Description
This is an early 18th-century house located on Tithe Barn Street in Horbury. The walls are rendered, and the roof is covered with stone slates. The house is two stories high and originally had three bays. The entrance is on the right and has a 20th-century door, although the surround may be original. To the left of the entrance, there was formerly a three-light double-chamfered window. The central window has been altered. The first floor has two three-light and one two-light double-chamfered windows, some with missing mullions, now fitted with 19th-century sash windows. A central brick stack is present. A 19th- or 20th-century addition or rebuild to the right is not considered to be of particular architectural interest. An altered two-light double-chamfered window is visible on the left return. Other windows are of the late 19th or 20th centuries. The interior of the building has not been inspected. The building was historically used as the Town School, a use recorded in 1708. It is included on the heritage list for its group value.
