Description

A range of farmbuildings dating from the early to mid-19th century, situated at Rode Hall Farm. The buildings are constructed of red English garden wall bond brick with ashlar dressings and coursed rubble, and have a roof of stone slate. They are arranged in an L-shape, creating a courtyard front.

On the western courtyard front, a stone plinth is visible, and the facade is divided into twelve bays, with eleven disposed symmetrically to the right. The central bay slightly projects and contains a wide, cambered door on the ground floor. Above this is a square sunken panel with an ashlar lintel, containing a sunken circular recess, likely originally a circular window. A blind lunette sits above this, with an ashlar sill set in a shallow pedimental gable. To either side of the central bay are five ground floor bays, with cambered-headed stable doors in the third and ninth bays. Recessed round-arched panels featuring brick walling in the lower halves and lunette windows above are present, some now blocked, and all with ashlar sills. Two first-floor openings are visible on each side, and the opening at the far left is lower, serving as a loft door. To the left of this, a single cambered-headed door is situated on the ground floor, appearing under a lower roofline.

The southern courtyard front includes a driftway on the right, followed by three bays to the left, featuring a central cambered-headed stable door. Recessed panels with lunette windows are present in the upper sections, mirroring the western front. Two first-floor openings are visible. The road front displays rubble walling and a driftway to the left of centre, with a cambered-arched double doorway and a two-light window above. Rubble walling continues to the right.
