Description

A stable block, dating from around 1830, located at North Rode Manor. The building is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and a slate roof with lead flashings. It has been partially converted into a house. The entrance front features a slightly projecting two-storey bay. The ground floor has a basket arch with stone springers, incorporating a medieval boss as a keystone. Above, there are two quatrefoil openings with stone surrounds, surmounted by a sprocketed pyramidal roof. Single-storey ranges extend to either side, featuring altered 19th and 20th-century window openings. Projecting two-storey wings are situated to the right and left. The right-hand wing has garage doors on the ground floor overlooking the courtyard, and a basket arch with stone springers and keystone to the hipped end. The left-hand wing has been converted into a house with the addition of imposed windows and a door.
