Description
The Catchpenny Public House is a building that was likely constructed in the late 18th century and has been altered over time. It is made of coursed squared sandstone and features a modern tiled roof. The building has a double-depth plan and is two storeys high with five symmetrical bays.
The façade includes sill bands on both floors and a central round-headed doorway. This doorway has a recessed panelled door, moulded imposts, a fanlight with arched glazing bars, a moulded head with a small keystone, and a pedimented Tuscan architrave that is flanked by engaged columns and a moulded frieze. The ground floor has four vertical-rectangular windows, while the upper floor has five, all with raised plain surrounds and altered glazing, specifically 12-pane top-hung casements. The building also features a moulded eaves cornice and a hipped roof that does not have chimneys.
On the right-hand return wall, there is a tall round-headed stairlight with a raised plain surround and glazing bars that radiate in the head. The interior of the building has been remodelled.
