Description
Moorhouse Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the late 17th century with a mid-19th century addition. It is constructed of coursed hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings. The original stone slate roof has largely been removed, along with the coping and kneelers at the gables. There are single brick stacks at the gable and ridge. The building features quoins and has a 3-cell linear plan with a direct entry to the main body of the house. It is two storeys high. The main front has three windows, and the off-centre doorway has a chamfered ashlar surround with a stepped hood mould that extends over the flanking ground floor windows. These three former 4-light chamfered mullion windows have had some of their mullions removed. Above, there are three similar former 3-light windows, also with some mullions removed. At the rear, there is a 19th-century addition. The interior includes chamfered spine beams and much of the original roof structure.
