Description
This dovecote, located approximately 100 metres south of Sharlston Hall, is likely from the 17th century. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone blocks and features quoins, topped with a stone slate roof. The building has a square single-cell plan and is a single storey. A drip-band runs around the entire structure. On the north side, there is a doorway offset to the left with a plain surround, and above the lintel, there is a recessed rectangular panel. Each side of the dovecote has a small vertical rectangular opening at the upper level. The roof is pyramidal in shape. Inside, the dovecote is lined with tiers of nest holes.
