Description
The gatepiers and 6 metres of flanking wall in front of Mount Farmhouse are likely from the same period as the farmhouse itself, which is dated 1719. The walls are made of hammer-dressed stone and feature ashlar coping. The gatepiers are pilastered, each having a base, a cyma-moulded foot, and a cornice topped with a heavy casement cornice and obelisk finials. There are carved consoles on the outer sides of the piers, which sit on a square base level with the chamfered coping of the walls. A simple pair of cast-iron gates with dogbars and alternate arrowheads completes the entrance.
