Description
This is a milepost located on Hemsworth Station Road, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is made of sandstone and features a cast-iron facing plate. The milepost has a triangular shape and stands approximately 1 metre high. It has a flat-faced semicircular head and chamfered sides, with raised lettering that reads: "BARNSLEY & PONTEFRACT ROAD" around the head, and "HEMSWORTH" "BARNY "PONT 8 6 MILES" on the sides.
