Description
No 4, known as Square One, is a cottage that has been converted into a shop. It likely dates from the late 17th century, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. The building is constructed from thin coursed sandstone and has a stone slate roof. It is a single-cell structure, single storey, and consists of two bays. The corners feature quoins. To the left of the doorway, there is a two-light flat-faced mullioned window with a projecting sill and tie-stone jambs. A brick stack is located on the left gable. The right-hand side has a three-light window with chamfered mullions, square tie-stone jambs, and a projecting sill, topped with a slate hoodmould. The building is part of a fold development.
