Description

Stream Cottage is a house that has been converted into two cottages, dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed from punch-dressed stone that has been painted white, with a concrete pantile roof, though it was originally thatched. The building has a three-room plan with a gable entry and an outshut at the rear of the first two rooms. It stands two storeys tall, with a single-storey outshut and four first-floor windows.

On the front, the first room features a small window with a chamfered surround and a 12-pane Yorkshire sash window to the left of a larger Yorkshire sash. Above, there are two small Yorkshire sash windows with chamfered surrounds. The second room has a large Yorkshire sash window to the left of an inserted doorway, with a small window above it. The third room contains a small 12-pane Yorkshire sash window on each floor, both with chamfered surrounds. All windows are fitted with wooden shutters. A large ridge stack is located at the junction of the first two rooms.

At the rear, the third room on the left has a Yorkshire sash window with a large monolithic lintel, along with a smaller two-light chamfered mullioned window on the first floor. There are also two eaves dormer windows. The outshut features three Yorkshire sash windows to the left of a small light, and has a cat-slide roof with a large dormer. The left-hand return side includes a doorway with a sandstone lintel in the outshut, while the first room has a large window with a concrete lintel above it.
