Description

Shaw Grange is a large house dating to circa 1870, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone with a Welsh slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has three bays, with the left and centre bays slightly projecting. The style is Jacobean. A central four-panel door with an overlight is set within a porch featuring a strapwork parapet. Flanking the door are large square bay windows with six-pane frames. On the first floor, paired windows are found in a shallow projecting bay, exhibiting monolithic jamb stones and a mullion to the left; a square cross window is centrally located, and a single six-pane window is to the right. A moulded string runs at the ground floor lintel and first-floor sill levels. The eaves parapet includes semicircular gable pediments, ball finials, and a shield carved into the gable on the right. The interior was not inspected.
