Description

This is a house located at 46 Cottage Road in Far Headingley, likely built around 1835 with later alterations in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone featuring herring-bone tooling and has a slate hipped roof. The house is two storeys tall with three first-floor windows and a single-storey range on the right side. The central entrance has a panelled door with leaded panes above it, flanked by canted bay windows. Throughout the house, there are 4-pane sash windows. The end stacks are corniced.

At the rear, which faces the road, there is a central panelled door with tri-stone jambs, and it is flanked by 16-pane sash windows. On the first floor, there is a central round-headed stair window, a 16-pane sash window on the right, and two plate-glass sashes on the left. The interior has not been inspected. This house is one of the larger ones built on the former common land of Headingley Moor between 1831 and 1850. A datestone inscribed 'GH/1835' on the stable block may have been moved from the garden front of the house.
