Description
No. 282 on Harrogate Road is a house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys with an attic and is arranged in three bays. It has a plinth and a central panelled door with an overlight, all set within a plain surround that includes a cornice. Above the entrance, there is a sash window with glazing bars in a plain surround, flanked by wider sashes that have margin lights. The first floor has a sill band, and the eaves are moulded, leading to a blocking course and gable copings. An ashlar stack is located on the ridge, slightly right of centre, with its upper part rebuilt in brick, while a brick stack is positioned to the left. A small dormer window is situated in the centre of the roof. The left return features a first-floor and eaves band, along with a semicircular gable window that has a modern frame. The right return has three windows and an altered round-arch attic window. The interior has not been inspected.
