Description

A row of four houses at 1-4 Park Square, Leeds, built around 1806-1815 and restored in the 20th century. The houses were likely designed by William Hargrave. They are constructed of red brick with a slate roof and have two storeys and a basement, containing 14 first-floor windows. Steps lead to the entrances, which have moulded surrounds, an entablature, and a cornice. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars and plate glass, set within stone sills and topped with wedge lintels. Number 3 has a 3-light window on the ground floor, which is a 20th-century addition. The interior was not inspected during the listing process. These houses represent one of the last sections of Park Square to be developed. A plan of Leeds and its surrounding areas from 1815-1816 shows the plot.
