Includes: No.1 Circus Circus Public House PARK CROSS STREET. Public house and offices. 1904, altered C20. By Thomas Winn. Brick and terracotta, slate roof with 2 large chimney stacks with rows of plain cylindrical pots. 4 storeys and attic, corner site with 4 bays to Headrow, corner tower and 2 bays to Park Cross Street. Glazed doors with scrolled pediments to centre of each facade and to corner, which has 'THE JUBILEE' in raised letters above; access to upper floors, (Jubilee Chambers) bay 1. 3-light windows to ground and first floors in round-arched arcade, sashes to 2nd and 3rd floors, bays 1 and 4 slightly bowed with balustraded parapet above dentilled eaves; central dormer and flanking chimneys. Corner tower has plaque above entrance and oval windows with swags to third storey, attached columns and dome. Right return: central doorway similar to corner entrance, flanked by 3-light windows, 3- and 2-light windows above, gable with 3-light window above eaves. INTERIOR: replanned and refitted late C20. Circular columns supporting upper floor possibly original. Described as Leeds' only remaining gin palace, the public house was originally called the Jubilee Hotel and served spirits to the lower middle classes.
