Description
A pair of cottages dated to the mid to late 18th century, located on the west side of Long Row in Horsforth. The cottages are constructed of coursed squared sandstone with quoins, and have stone slate roofs. They have a rectangular, double-depth plan, each being a single unit wide. The two-storey, two-bay facades are almost symmetrical and feature a first-floor band. A central, shared entrance features plain surrounds. Number 55, on the left, has been recently cleaned and includes a three-light window on each floor. Number 57, on the right, has a similar three-light window at ground floor, and a two-light window above, all with flat-faced mullions and plain surrounds. The left gable has a two-light window on each floor and is finished with gable coping returned to its ends. A chimney is located on the ridge, marking the junction with the adjacent property at number 59. The rear elevation mirrors the front's fenestration.
