Description
No 56 Boroughgate is an 18th-century dwelling house located on the north side of Boroughgate. It is a very plain but entirely original three-storey building made of stone, topped with a stone slate roof. The house features a moulded eaves cornice and a plain parapet. The window cills are part of plain string courses, with some glazing bars still remaining. The windows include configurations of two lights, one light, and two lights. The entrance has a modern door with a rectangular plain fanlight and a stone architrave. There is a plinth at the base of the building. At the rear, there is one window with mullions that shows traces of 17th-century origin. This property is part of a group that includes Nos 44 and 46 and Nos 54 to 60 (even).
