Description
The stable block, dating from the 18th century, is linked to the north side of Wellhill Farmhouse. It is constructed from coursed squared magnesian limestone and features a pantile roof with a course of stone slate over the eaves. The building has a rectangular plan and is two storeys high with three symmetrical bays. The centre bay projects forward and has altered doorways on the ground floor, with a blind ogee-arch above. The outer bays feature first-floor sill bands beneath simple Diocletian windows, along with altered doorways on the ground floor. The first bay includes a cruciform pseudo arrow-slit at ground level. The right return wall has a similar feature at ground level, with a Diocletian window above that has a loading door instead of glazing. An added bay at the left end contains a small window on the ground floor, and the gable wall has external steps leading to loft doors.
