Description
Manor House and The Keep is a former manor house, now divided into two houses, located on Colton Road in Whitkirk. It dates back to the early 17th century, with early 19th-century additions. The building is constructed of stone, faced in roughcast, and features a stone slate roof with gable ends. The roof has stone coping at the verges and kneelers, adorned with small obelisk finials and small cross finials at the apex. The structure is two storeys high and has three widely spaced windows, which are three-light casements. The ground floor windows have dripmoulds, while the original mullions have been replaced with modern frames that include leaded casements. A central stone doorway features a moulded four-centred arch and a moulded ogee hood with a cross finial. Inside, there is a wing at the rear that contains an early 19th-century staircase.
