Description

St John's Sunday School and the attached Church House are located on New Street in Farsley. The Church House was built around 1848, and the Sunday School was added in approximately 1888, filling the gap between Farsley National School. The Church House is one and a half storeys tall, while the Sunday School is a tall single storey. Both buildings are constructed from hammer-dressed stone and feature Welsh blue-slate roofs.

The Sunday School has five bays and includes a pointed-arched gateway situated between the Farsley National Schools, which are aligned differently. It features a plinth and a sill band. Each bay contains paired cusped lancets, with the first, third, and fifth bays being taller and having gabled dormers. The third bay projects slightly, and there are gutter brackets and coped gables. There is an end stack to the right that is set forward at the junction with the Church House.

The Church House has three bays, with a central doorway that features two trefoils cut into the lintel and contemporary iron hinges, along with a single cusped light above. The flanking bays have cusped lancets grouped in threes on the ground floor and twos on the first floor, with gabled dormers above. Attached to the first bay dormer is a short diamond-set ashlar stack, and there is a coped gable to the right with an end stack.
