Description
Manor Cottage, together with the adjacent property at number 53, is an early to mid-18th century cottage and house built under a single roof. The building is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with a stone slate roof that continues in alignment with the roof of the adjacent property at number 55. The plan is rectangular, with one and two units respectively. It has two storeys and one and two bays. A first-floor band runs along the facade. Number 51 has a doorway on its right side, while number 53 has a central doorway, both framed by plain surrounds. Each floor has one and two windows respectively, each with three lights and plain surrounds, featuring flat-faced flush mullions. A ridge chimney and a gable chimney are present, along with gable copings which include kneelers at the left-hand end of the building. The rear of number 53 includes two recessed mullioned windows on the ground floor, one with three lights and the other with four lights, the four-light window retaining original diamond lattice glazing. The interior of the building was not inspected.
