Description

AIREBOROUGH CHURCH STREET SE 14 SE LS 20 (south side) Guiseley 10A/43 Two tomb chests - of Hannah Wilkinson and Mary Cooper on south side of path, opposite south transept of Church of St. Oswald GV II

Two tomb chests, dated 1805 and 1829. Sandstone. Placed side by side, in matching style, with panelled sides, the panels containing large raised roundels and ovals with radial patterns surrounding floral centres; that on the north side, to Hannah Wilkinson ld.1805), has a lid with arched head, fluted keystone, winged angel heads in the spandrels; the other, to Mary Cooper (d.1829), is headed by the word "Sacred" in Gothic script, surrounded by incised decoration.
