Description
Two tomb chests, dated 1805 and 1829, are located on the south side of the path, opposite the south transept of the Church of St. Oswald. They are made of sandstone and are placed side by side in a matching style. Each chest has panelled sides featuring large raised roundels and ovals with radial patterns surrounding floral centres. The tomb chest for Hannah Wilkinson, who died in 1805, has a lid with an arched head, a fluted keystone, and winged angel heads in the spandrels. The other tomb chest, for Mary Cooper, who died in 1829, is topped with the word "Sacred" in Gothic script, surrounded by incised decoration.
