Description
38 Market Place is a 17th-century building located on the south side of Market Place. It features a plastered exterior and a blue slate roof, rising three storeys high. The ground floor has a shop front, while the windows on the two upper storeys date back to the 17th century; however, the original mullions have been replaced with sash frames, and the reveals are splayed. The top floor has two windows, and the first floor has one two-light window. At the rear, in the courtyard, the windows are more original, consisting of three lights and retaining their mullions. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 30 to 40 (even), Nos 22 and 24, Leeds House Cafe, Butter Cross, and Jubilee Clock.
