Description
This is a house, now partly used as offices, located near the entrance gates to Case & Company in Stanningley. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys, a partial cellar, and an attic, following a two-cell central lobby-entry plan that is double-depth.
The exterior features quoins and a doorway with tie-stone chamfered jambs, topped with a shallow-arched lintel and a single-light window in a plain stone surround. The flanking bays have two-light flat-faced mullion windows with recessed mullions on both floors. The left gable is coped and has an end stack, while the right end stack is truncated. At the rear, there are two similar windows on the ground floor, one of which has a doorway broken through, and three smaller square windows on the first floor. A stack is located at the right corner. The left-hand return has a blocked doorway similar to the front, with an inserted window to the right, and a former two-light window in the attic is also blocked.
Inside, the door opens against the stair, which is likely an original feature. All the ground-floor rooms have a stop-chamfered spine beam.
