Description

This is a group of three chest tombs located approximately 20 meters east of the east window of the Church of St Mary. The tombs date from around 1720, 1723, and 1739 and are made of ashlar stone. They are arranged in an L-shaped formation, with stone slabs raised on panelled sides. Two of the tombs feature similar borders with arrow-head corners. All three have inscriptions in similar script, with decorative first letters. The tomb at the top is for Elizabeth Ellis, the wife of John Ellis of Morley, a farrier who died on July 25, 1723. The grave to the left is for William Robuck of Morley, who died on September 17, 1720, and the grave to the right is for Joseph Hall of Morley, who died on December 29, 1739. These tombs are included for their group value.
