Description
The stone shaft located approximately 5 metres south of the Church of St. Mary is a Grade II listed structure. The date and original purpose of the shaft are unknown, but it may have served as the base of a late medieval cross shaft or possibly as the pedestal for a sundial from the 18th century. It is made of magnesian limestone and features a two-step plinth constructed from interlocking flagstones. The shaft itself is about one metre high and was originally octagonal in shape, though it is now heavily weathered.
