Description

The Exley tomb chest, located approximately 3 metres south of the third bay of the aisle of the Church of St. Peter, is a Grade II listed structure. It commemorates Thomas and Mary, children of John Exley, who died in 1725 and 1854, respectively. The tomb chest is made of sandstone and features plain sides. The lid has a moulded edge and an arched head adorned with foliage, which includes a head in the keystone and winged angel heads in the spandrels.
