Description

This is a former inn, now divided into three separate dwellings. It dates from the mid-18th century, with additions from the early 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed, squared magnesian limestone, with a stone slate roof. The front is two storeys high, and has a 1:4 bay arrangement, with a parallel range extending to the rear, and a wing projecting from the rear right.

The original four-bay section on the right features a plinth and a doorway in the third bay. The doorway has a six-panel door with a four-pane overlight, set within a recess beneath a moulded hood supported by shaped corbels. Above the hood is a lintel with a raised keystone. The ground floor has sixteen-pane sash windows with projecting sills, each with a lintel containing a raised keystone (the window in bay two has been narrowed). The addition to the left has similar windows, but with cambered-arched heads.

The right end of the roof has later ashlar gable copings and a large, shouldered external end stack with a rendered shaft. The left end of the roof is hipped, with two rendered ridge stacks. There is also a stack to the ridge of the left return.

The building was known as the Drovers Inn until around 1870.
