Description
This listing describes a row of three cottages located at 2, 4, and 6 Wesley Street, Rodley, Leeds. They were built in 1809 and altered in the 20th century. The cottages are constructed from coursed squared gritstone with a stone slate roof. Each cottage is two stories high and one bay wide; numbers 2 and 4 form a mirror pair with central entrances to their right, while number 6 also has an entrance to its right. Rusticated quoins mark the corners. The entrances have plain stone surrounds with tie-stone jambs. The windows are two-light with flat-faced mullions; the mullion has been removed from the ground floor window to the right of number 2, and all windows now have modern frames. A projecting stone band at first-floor level bears a rectangular stone plaque with incised lettering reading "M/ J+A 1809" above the entrances to numbers 2 and 4. A banded stone stack is on the right-hand side, and a brick stack is located between numbers 4 and 6. The interior of the cottages was not inspected.
