Description
Nos 5 and 6, known as Barnside, is a former farmhouse with later additions, part of a group of buildings. It dates from the mid-18th century and has 19th-century alterations and an addition. The structure is built of deeply coursed millstone grit and features quoins. It has a stone slate roof with a central ashlar stack. The near central doorway has moulded reveals and a moulded Tudor arched lintel. There are four-light windows to the left and right, each with a shallow double chamfer and drip moulding above. The first floor has two 19th-century single-light windows, while the gable features two 19th-century three-light windows. The 19th-century addition to the rear, included for group value, has a former six-light window on the first floor, with two blocked lights.
