Description
This barn, situated to the north-west of Nos 5 and 6 Barnside, dates to 1674. It is constructed of coursed rubble with quoins, and has a stone slate roof with finials. The barn features a carriage entrance on both the left and right sides of a central outshut mistal extension. This extension has deep, arched lintels above doorways at each end. A doorway on the right-hand side bears the inscription "H 1683 I" with a carved motif. The left gable has a central doorway with a chamfered surround and arched lintel, topped with a slender keystone. Above this, at a higher level to the right, is a partially blocked doorway with a shaped lintel inscribed "K I E (?) 1674". Inside, the barn has king post trusses with struts and braces. A single queen-post truss is located to the right. Posts support purlins, and one truss is situated at the junction with the outshut.
