Description
Thornhill is a mid-19th century building located on Thornhill Road in Edgerton. It features rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and has a pitched slate roof. The structure is two storeys high with attics, and it showcases a moulded eaves cornice and coped gables on kneelers.
The entrance front consists of three window ranges, two of which are gabled. The north range includes a three-light sash window on the first floor, with each light having a trefoiled head, a blind plate tracery rose above, and a semi-circular hood mould over all. The ground floor features a canted bay with three trefoil-headed lights, a transom, panelled spandrels, a moulded eaves cornice, and a parapet adorned with a blind quatrefoil and trefoil pattern.
The south range has a two-light window in the attic with trefoil-headed lights, and a three-light window on the first floor, also with trefoil-headed lights and a hood mould. The ground floor includes a canted bay with trefoil-headed lights, a transom, panelled spandrels, a moulded eaves cornice, and a similar parapet design. The centre of the building has a bipartite sash window with Caernarvon-arched lintels on the first floor, and a wrought iron balcony for a window box supported by moulded ashlar brackets. The entrance features a nine-panelled door with side-lights and a two-centred fanlight, all within moulded surrounds and topped with a hood mould. The garden elevation includes a three-light trefoil-headed staircase window with two transoms.
