Description
Ellerslie is a mid-19th century building located on Blacker Road in Edgerton. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features a pitched slate roof. The building has two storeys and attics, with various coped gables supported by kneelers.
The entrance front includes a gable on the left, a three-storey tower in the center, and an additional bay to the right. The left section features a two-storey canted bay with sash windows, foliate impost bands, carved panels between the storeys, moulded cornices, and a hipped stone roof. The gable ends have two-light sashes, each supported by a colonnette with a foliate capital. The central porch has moulded gable coping and gabled finials on aedicules with pink granite colonnettes. The porch is corbelled out at the corners and has a moulded two-centred arch with two orders of pink granite. The first floor has a two-light sash with a colonnette featuring a foliate capital, while the second floor has a single light sash. A deeply moulded bracketed cornice runs along the top.
The right section of the building has two French casements on the ground floor and a tripartite sash on the first floor, with a frame that is corbelled out and topped with a moulded cornice, stylised foliage impost band, colonnette, and foliate capital.
The north front consists of three bays, with the left bay mirroring the left side of the main front. The right bay features an oblong bay with five lights on the ground floor and three on the first floor, both topped with moulded cornices. This section also includes colonnettes with foliate capitals and panels of intricate foliate and figurative carving, along with a gable that has a third panel above. All windows are fitted with hoodmoulds, most of which rise upwards in the center.
