Description
The railway viaduct on the Dewsbury-Batley line was built around 1848 for the London and North Western Railway Company. It is constructed from rock-faced, deeply coursed stone with ashlar dressings. The structure features a deep moulded cornice and a parapet, supported by 12 segmental arches arranged in a curving plan. The arches are complemented by rusticated vaults and voussoirs, while the piers have massive moulded ashlar bases.
