LUCK LANE 1. 5113 (West Side) Marsh Main block of Royds Hall School SE 1216 33/863 II 2. Mid C19. Former villa. Hammer-dressed stone. Ashlar dressings, Hipped slate roof. 2 storeys. Moulded eaves cornice with stone consoles. Band. Continuous 1st floor sill. Horizontally rusticated angle pilasters. Rusticated quoins to chimneybreast. 5 segment-headed sashes in plain raised frames on 1st floor. Ground floor sashes are oblong, have plain raised frames, and panelled aprons; 2 of them are paired, separated by columns with Corinthian capitals. Porch over 5 steps: Composite pilasters at corners, taking full entablature and pierced balustrade: sides have arcades of 3 small semi-circular arches with moulded voussoirs taken on pink granite colonnettes with Composite capitals. Round-arched window above, with carved imposts, moulded voussoirs and ornamental cresting. This bay has an individual steep pitched pyramidal roof. Doors with elaborate moulded panelling. Other elevations partly masked by modern school, but those parts visible from in front are of the same quality.
