Description
Highfield, at 51 New North Road, is a mid-19th century house constructed of hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings and a pitched ornamental slate roof featuring coped gables. The house is two storeys high and has stone mullion and transom windows with round-arched lights, each with hammer-dressed relieving arches. Two first-floor windows have cusped lights and are accompanied by attic dormers. The building follows an L-shaped plan, with a porch set within the re-entrant angle. The porch has a pitched slate roof with a gable, a door with a 3-centred arched head, a pointed relieving arch above the door, a hoodmould, and a trefoil motif in the tympanum.
