Description

This shop with rooms over was built in 1883. It has an ashlar front and a slate roof, standing three storeys high with a single bay facade. There are two doorways and a central shop window. The stone surrounds are elaborately decorated with deeply incised patterns. The first-floor windows are grouped in threes, with round-arched lights featuring deeply moulded pointed hoods supported on red granite colonnettes with foliated capitals. Each tympanum contains a carved emblem depicting a sheep, a ship, and a wheatsheaf. A pronounced sill is supported on carved brackets, and the lights have moulded aprons with foliage. The second-floor windows also form groups of three, with round-arched lights and a continuous hood mould, and are similarly supported by cable-moulded colonnettes and carved brackets. At eaves level, two roundels display the date 1883. Four moulded brackets support the gutter.
