Description

This is a row of three shops, built by 1866, with a frontage that appears to date from the late 19th century. The building is constructed of stone ashlar and has a slate roof. The three-storey, three-bay frontage features rusticated quoins on the ground floor, with bays divided by panelled pilasters. Giant Classical strip pilasters extend upwards to support an eaves band and a dentilled cornice, forming an entablature with a blocking course above. The first-floor windows are tripartite with narrower, round-arched sidelights, fitted with sashes and divided by pilasters. Pilasters with consoles support cornices, which in turn support pediments above the central lights – segmental for the middle window and triangular for the flanking windows. The second-floor windows are each of two lights set within an architrave, featuring shield-and-foliage-decorated keystones, with window cills supported on consoles. The front roof slope retains two corniced chimney stacks, set at an angle.
