Description
The walls, railings, gates, and gatepiers enclosing the Station Surgery were likely built around 1894, originally serving as a police station. The boundary walls are constructed of squared stone brought to course and ashlar, complemented by iron railings and gates. The low coped wall on both the north and south sides supports railings featuring plain spiked bars, some of which are taller, along with intermediate standards that have flanking bars curving inwards at the top. The double-leaf gates match this style, equipped with spiralled hinge and lock bars. The gatepiers have chamfered ashlar bases, ashlar cornices, and ball finials, with two pairs on the north wall and one pair on the south wall. Taller ramped walls with flat coping connect the north and south walls, although the south end of the west wall has been replaced.
