Description
1 and 3 Brook Street is a building from 1863, constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a pitched slate roof and coped gables. It stands two storeys tall and features a moulded eaves cornice. The ground floor has a modern shop window and a pointed arched carriage entrance with a chamfered surround. Above this entrance is a frieze that displays "Marble Works" in sans-serif lettering. There is a 2-light window above the entrance, which has pointed arches, a blind oculus in the spandrel, and chamfered surrounds. The oculus contains the year "1869" made from geometrically shaped pieces of coloured marble. On the first floor, there are five pointed arched windows, each with chamfered voussoirs, a hood mould above, and marble ornamentation in the impost band and in the blind oculi of the spandrels.
