Description
48 King Street is an early 19th-century building constructed of ashlar stone with a pitched stone slate roof. It stands three storeys tall and features stone brackets supporting the gutter. A continuous sill band runs along the first floor. The facade includes three ranges of sash windows, with the westernmost window slightly recessed. There is a mid-19th-century shopfront that has panelled pilasters and moulded consoles, along with an archway leading to Hammond's Yard, which is flanked by similar features. The door in the archway has four panels, two of which are moulded and two are fielded. The ground is finished with stone setts and cobbles. At the rear, the building is faced with red brick and has two ranges of sash windows with glazing bars.
