Description
This is a farmhouse and an attached barn located to the north of a group in Upper Hey, dating from the mid-18th century, though it may have earlier origins. The building is constructed from deeply coursed, hammer-dressed stone and features quoins. It has a stone slate roof with a central ashlar stack and gable copings that are chamfered on the house. The barn has kneelers. The structure is two storeys tall, with a near-central door that has a deep lintel. The windows are all chamfered, with alternate mullions removed; there is one 4-light window on either side of the door, and one 4-light and one 6-light window on the first floor. The barn to the left projects forward and has a central doorway, with mistal outshuts on each side, both of which have blocked side doors. There are two fire windows at ground floor level on the rear of the house and a blocked central segmental arched doorway on the rear of the barn. The barn roof features two king post trusses. Later additions to the right are not included in this listing.
