Description
26 James Street is an early to mid 19th-century building that is part of a terrace. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a pitched stone slate roof. The building has three storeys, although it appears to have two storeys on the north side.
On the south elevation, the ground floor has a central doorway with a stone surround, flanked by one three-light stone mullioned window and one two-light stone mullioned window, although the mullion has been removed from the latter. The first floor contains two four-light stone mullioned windows, while the second floor has one nine-light stone mullioned window, with three lights blocked. All the mullioned windows have round arched frames.
On the north elevation, the ground floor features an entrance with a stone surround and one three-light stone mullioned window. The first floor has one ten-light stone mullioned window, and both of these windows include glazing bars.
