Description
These are a former house and cottage, later divided into three dwellings and now comprising two cottages. The main house section dates from 1787, while the cottage itself was built in the mid to late 19th century. The buildings are constructed of hammer-dressed stone, with quoins to the main house. They have stone slate roofs. The house has an entrance on the left-hand side, featuring a deep lintel and a blocked surround. To the right of the entrance is a four-light window, retaining only the central mullion. Above this is a six-light window, also with a king mullion. The cottage is positioned to the right, featuring an entrance and a two-light window to the left, where the mullion has been removed. There is a three-light window on the first floor of the cottage. An inscribed tablet above the door of the main house reads: “This house was erected in 1787 by Thomas and Martha Armitage.”
