Description
The Temple in Crow Nest Park, located 200 yards south of Crow Nest House, is a summer house or temple built in the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a single square cell with a basement. Each face of the building has a round arched recess, which includes a blocked window on a continuous sill band, and one doorway. These elements are adorned with chambranles, a pulvinated frieze, and a triangular pediment supported by small consoles. The structure also has a heavy eaves cornice and a blocking course. Access to the doorway is provided by stone steps, beneath which there is another doorway leading into the basement.
