Description

Nos. 96, 98, and 100 on Huddersfield Road are possibly remnants of a single dwelling that has since been divided. The buildings date from the 17th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. They are constructed from hammer-dressed stone and coursed rubble, featuring quoins and a stone slate roof with chamfered gable copings on moulded kneelers, one of which has a finial. There are two ashlar chimney stacks and one recent stone stack.

The buildings are two storeys high, with an extension to No. 98 that projects forward and has a 19th-century window that has been altered to include a recent doorway. No. 96 has one altered double chamfered window, while No. 100 features a 4-light double chamfered window with two removed mullions. At the rear, No. 100 has a doorway with a moulded surround and an inscribed lintel reading "B J A 1773." To the right, there is a 6-light double chamfered window with a king mullion and two removed mullions, and above it, a similar 8-light window on the first floor with four removed mullions.

There is a late 19th-century ashlar addition to the right. Nos. 96 and 98 are likely slightly older than No. 100. A continuous hood mould, with a stop to the left, is present over what may be enlarged double chamfered windows—one with five lights and the other with six lights, both having some mullions removed. There is also a 19th-century 3-light window to the right, with first-floor windows of 3, 6, and 3 lights. The gable of No. 96 features a projecting chimney breast with offsets and quoins.
