Description

This is a mile post located on Sheffield Road in New Mill, dating from the mid to late 19th century. It features a cast iron triangular front with a rounded top, mounted on a stone post. The inscription on the mile post reads: "NEW MILL DISTRICT ROAD FULSTONE HUDDERSFIELD SHEFFIELD 6½ MILES 20 MILES."
