Description
These water troughs are located in a drystone-walled recess and are fronted by stone setts. They date from the 18th century or earlier and are made of millstone grit. There are three stone troughs set on a rubblestone plinth, with the central trough featuring an unstoppered outlet hole. Additionally, there is a fourth, broken trough positioned at ground level on the right. The recess itself is constructed of drystone rubble and has walls that curve towards a flat rear section, with rubblestone coping and some tooled monolithic coping stones on the left-hand side. In the left section, a stone-lintelled conduit directs water into the topmost trough, while another conduit is located at a low level in the right-hand section. The area in front of the troughs is paved with stone setts.
