Description
Heckmondwike Cemetery Chapels are Church of England and Non-Conformist chapels, built around 1860, and currently used for storage. They are constructed from dressed stone and feature steeply pitched slate roofs with chamfered gable copings. The two chapels are identical and are connected by a central arched carriageway, which is topped by a square and octagonal tower with a slender stone spire. Each chapel has diagonal buttressing and a porch. The east and west windows are identical, consisting of three lights with cusped and foiled intersecting tracery, along with a hood mould that has figurehead stops. The tower is also buttressed and includes a quatrefoil on the first tier, with slender traceried windows with gabled heads on all four sides of the second tier.
