Description
The former dwellings and barn adjoining to the right of No 42 were built in 1691, as indicated by the date on the building. Constructed from coursed rubble with quoins, the structure features a stone slate roof and stands two storeys high. The dwellings, located on the left side of the group, have an entrance to the right, next to the barn, which is topped with a deep Tudor arched lintel inscribed with "16 ML" 91" and has chamfered reveals. There is a later doorway to the left. The ground and first floors each have two 2-light double chamfered windows, although one of the upper windows has had its mullion removed. Inside, there is a central fireplace with an arched lintel and a tapering stack.
To the right, the barn features a large central doorway with a timber lintel and a hood mould. There is also a small, blocked doorway to the right of this, which has a deep lintel and chamfered reveals. A slightly later addition to the right gable includes a wide doorway with a deep lintel. In the gable apex, there is an opening with an inscribed surround reading "GET 1754". The main barn is supported by simple trusses with struts.
